We ain't hipsters, we are true eccentrics We ain't trendies, we are truly strange We ain't poseurs, we are true outsiders We are lifers, we will never change We are the scene We are the scene Come ride with us and you'll see what I mean We are different, we are forward thinking We don't do things quite like others do We don't copy, we do all things our way When we hit you we will stick like glue With something truly new This we promise you Come ride with us, we'll show you what we do We are the scene We are the scene Come ride with us and you'll see what I mean World is changing, we're all feeling cheated But although we're down we're still not out It's time these viruses must be defeated And as we crush them you will hear us shout We are the scene We are the scene Come ride with us and you'll see what I mean

After all the archival releases I've put out in 2020, I've decided to take a little break from that and put out some new music for a change, namely this acoustic single featuring two very recently written songs, both of which I'd like to provide a little background on.

"We Are The Scene" was originally written last year as a theme song for the "tour" of various Orlando venues I undertook with several other local artists in the early spring of 2019 under Joshua Rogers' Broken Machine Films banner. The original set of lyrics included a verse which namechecked the artists involved. This has since been fully rewritten to reflect more current events. I did not wish to spell things out too specifically; I would not want this song to wind up becoming dated after we (hopefully) win this current war for our health and rights. Those of you who "ride with us" will know exactly where I stand on these issues, I'm sure. I intended to put this song out last year, but never got around to it until now, making this its first official release. C'est la vie.

"Little Subgenius Child" was also written in 2019 in honor of my dear friends Argus Faux and Aster Six and the imminent arrival of their first child Maxine. This song originally appeared on my Soundcloud prior to Maxine's birth; as with "We Are The Scene," this new take is also a partially rewritten version, again with lyrical updates to reflect changes occurring since the song was first recorded. The parties namechecked in the song are affiliated with the Church of the Subgenius, a fine bunch of folks with whom I've collaborated both in Florida and New Jersey over the years, and I am proud to be associated with them.

I wish to thank the Hypercube crew, Joshua Rogers, Matthew Moyer and Cesar Marquez for ever-unwavering support and loyalty. This single is dedicated to all of them, and also to the beautiful people of Mills 50 in Orlando.

Now get out there and cast your vote, all of you.
